Because of the Viruses structure, its ability to survive off the host for long periods of time and the way it is spread via bird secretions from the mouth and droppings, direct contact, feathers and skin, makes it very hard to eliminate from the home and avairy. Attention to detail and strict hygene are paramount.

Carpet: Get in professionals, the carpet needs spraying with a special grade disinfectant, steam clean (only) and resprayed with the disinfectant and allowed to dry naturally.

Furniture: While you are having the carpet done, get them to go over your lounge suite, chairs etc. that are covered in material.
Walls: Wash walls or any other surface the bird may have had any direct or indirect contact with, using a diluted solution of Bleach.
Toys: If they cannot be bleached or soaked in VirconS then throw them away. We did not keep any toys for reuse.
Curtains: If they are made from material that cannot be washed you will have to get them cleaned

Avairy: Remove any natural branches and burn. Remove all perches and other equipment. Thoroughly spray with water and wash with a solution of Bleach, paying particular attention to wire or any other hard to reach places. Allow to dry. Spray with solution of VirconS as per packet instructions. Allow to dry naturally.
Cage: Thoroughly clean the cage first using bleach and water, get into every nook, underneath, inside, screws, bolts etc. Allow to dry in the sun. Spray with solution of VirconS as per packet instructions. Allow to dry naturally.
